Gold Bar Butter produces artisanal cultured butter in the creamery of Asgaard Farm, nestled in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Our butter is made the old fashioned way: cultured, churned in small batches, and kneaded by hand. The cream for our butter comes Battenkill Valley Creamery, a fifth-generation family dairy farm in Salem, NY.

What is cultured butter?
Cultured butter is made with cream that has been ripened with live active cultures. This 24 hour fermentation process brings out all of the bold, buttery flavor compounds of the cream. Once churned, we lightly salt our butter to perfectly balance the rich, tangy flavors of the cream. The result is an exceptionally flavorful butter.

Owner and butter maker Kelsie Meehan has been milking cows and making cultured butter since 2012. In addition to making butter at Gold Bar, she milks and tends to the cows at Sugar House Creamery, in Upper Jay, NY. Gold Bar is the culmination of her dream to produce the finest quality butter in the place that she loves most, the Adirondack Mountains.
