I met Nathan at a class he was teaching on core centering. I was drawn to his story about healing his own back pain and reducing stress as I have struggled with chronic back issues for years. He provided practical and innovative tools that I could embrace immediately. Subsequently, Nathan was a presenter at my business where he engaged our team in exercises they could incorporate into their daily routines. His style is calm and welcoming with a touch of appropriate humor. I recommend Nathan for individual coaching or a team learning experience.
Racey, you created a space where I felt safe and comfortable enough to open up, to feel, and to speak my inner truth. You asked thoughtful questions and offered unique, guided experiences that supported my inner journey, all while staying present with me. I felt deeply seen and heard as I connected with something real inside myself. I’ve found that many forms of therapy don’t work for me because there’s too much talking. I don’t want my mind driving the bus—I want something deeper and more honest to lead, which for me is my body and that inner space that feels like truth. Racey, you have a gift for creating a space that leads me there and for introducing creative, even joyful ways to explore the complexity within.
Nathan and Racey taught me core centering movements I can do anywhere. I've leaned on them before stressful events in life and at work, and I've even passed them to a coworker who needed to reset fast. I'm not just borrowing their tools anymore; I've made them my own.
Nathan is the most sincerely curious person I’ve ever met which makes him innately a great coach. His open, friendly manner will put you at ease and he will gentle guide you to finding the answers within yourself… because he truly is not attached to being any kind of guru for his clients. A rare gem!!
Working with Nate was one of the most calming and grounding experiences of my life. Getting there felt easy with his supportive and methodical approach and I was amazed by how universally applicable the work is.
Nathan is open, approachable and has helped me navigate life with mindful emotional and physical strategies.
This has the capacity to empower yourself for real and lasting change. But with the change, I can see how the sensation-based mindset can bring everyday peace to lead to lifelong fulfillment.

Nathan Henderson is the kind of man who has lived in his body the way a good farmer lives on his land: with attention, with patience, and with hard-won respect for what he cannot control.
He's a geologist, musician, farmer, father, and partner. He co-owns Reber Rock Farm, the certified organic, pasture-raised operation in Essex, New York where this retreat takes place. He's been teaching in some form for most of his life, from tennis instruction to outdoor education to farm mentorship.
In 2021, a herniated disc left Nathan immobilized in bed for three months. Elective surgery was months away. Narcotics and other pain management approaches couldn't touch it effectively. Facing that kind of pain with no exit ramp, Nathan was forced into a different kind of work: actually sitting with his body instead of overriding it.
Through somatic coaching work, Nathan began to untangle the relationship between body, pain, and perception. Long before his surgery date, he was on the path to recovery. He remains pain-free today.
That experience changed him. It led him to become a life coach, to open Reber Rock Farm to retreats, and to bring this work to other people who are ready to listen to what their bodies have been trying to tell them.
You can read more about Nathan's journey on the farm's website and in the podcast series linked there. More of his story lives in this series of conversations.

Racey works with individuals to create change for themselves and their communities. She works alongside them to coordinate, facilitate and accelerate the changes they want in their lives.
For 25 years, Racey worked as a humanitarian and development professional focused on supporting farmers to improve production outcomes, and prepare for and recover from crises of all kinds. Her work took her across Africa, South America and Asia with the Peace Corps, the World Bank, the United Nations Food and Agriculture organization, and numerous non-profits and research organizations funded by USAID.
At the same time she was active in the Adirondacks farming at Essex Farm (2009-2011), Full and By Farm (2012) and as coordinator of the Essex Farm Institute at the Adirondack Council (2016-2021). She and Nathan co-founded Reber Rock Farm in 2013 with friend Chad Vogel. In 2016, she co-founded the Adirondack Food Justice Summit and was a key player in establishing the Adirondack Food System Network in 2020. In 2017, she co-founded Ndara, a textile company focused on telling a different story about the Central African Republic and building local capacity.
Since January 2024, Racey has been working full-time at Reber Rock. The farm’s vision “to be your trusted source for food and health” unites Racey’s passion for engaging with the physical world and facilitating change for individuals. She works daily with animals and humans. She ensures animals have their basic needs met and are thriving on pasture. As a coach, she uses sensation-based motivation tools to support her farm team, and to relieve clients’ stress, chronic pain, and to find more ease and joy in life. Sensation-based motivation tools focus on becoming aware of patterns in our life (body, mind and spirit patterns), decoding them, reframing them and modifying them to focus on the results we want in our lives.
Her formal training includes a BA in International Communication, MA in Law and Diplomacy, MS in Nutrition, and certifications in Core Centering, Cross-Mapping, and the Soul’s Agenda Discovery process. She is certified as a sensation-based motivation coach by the Somatic Coaching Academy.
